RESISTANCE TO CHANGE
2 IDEAS FROM ME
The most effective way to manifest big dreams and take every day by storm is to organize the journey with transformative flywheels, habits, and decisions. The Ultrajourney Flywheel is one mechanism to do that. With a well-organized mechanism, you can build up a lot of momentum. Why is flywheel momentum so critical? Because life is complicated. Change is even more difficult. It takes courage and energy to realize dreams and overcome the resistance to change. Resistance comes from the conditioned patterns we have established through a lifetime of inherited beliefs and perpetuated behaviors. We must apply enough energy to the flywheel to overcome the resistance to change.
Change through CHAIN
A simple way to visualize how to overcome the resistance to change is with the following CHAIN formula:
C + H + A + I + N > R
Where:
C = Energy from Hollow-Bones Curiosity
H = Energy from Hunger to Transform
A = Energy from Current-State Assessment
I = Energy from Ideal State
N = Energy from Next-Step Habits
R = Energy from Resistance to Change.
The combined energy from each element on the Ultrajourney Flywheel CHAIN side of the equation must be greater than “R,” the resistance to change. Turning the flywheel takes a lot of energy. It barely seems to move initially. It’s like planting a bamboo seed. Bamboo takes five years to build enough roots before it has the power to break the surface. Looking from the outside on the surface, it seems like nothing has been happening for five years. Then the tree grows 35-40 inches daily and up to 90 feet tall in five weeks.
2 QUOTES FROM SAGES
“Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men. A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart. He only earns his freedom and his life who takes them every day by storm.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1978). “Goethe’s Faust: An abridged version”
“The art of art, the glory of expression and the sunshine of the light of letters, is simplicity. Either define the moment or the moment will define you.” – Walt Whitman.
