FLOWING UP
2 IDEAS FROM ME
“Flow,” as defined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, is the state of optimal experience where individuals are fully immersed in an activity, feeling energized, focused, and deeply satisfied. In this state, time seems to stand still as individuals are completely absorbed in the present moment, effortlessly performing at their peak.
The process of “Flowing Up” is to evolve your consciousness by spending time in flow using your signature strengths to realize your vision for your highest values. This heightens joy, creativity, well-being, and quality of life. “Flowing Up” symbolizes the upward trajectory of consciousness, akin to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s flow graph of skill versus challenge. As individuals progress in their personal and spiritual growth, they ascend through levels of awareness and understanding. Challenges become opportunities for growth, pushing individuals to develop new skills and insights. With each ascent, they enter a state of “flow,” where new skills meet challenge, and consciousness expands. Just as a river flows upward, carving its path through obstacles, so too does the human spirit rise above adversity, reaching ever higher levels of enlightenment and fulfillment on the journey of self-discovery and evolution.
2 QUOTES FROM SAGES
“The control of consciousness determines the quality of life.”— Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience)
“What’s going on inside you when you’re really happy? You’ll find that there are two dimensions. One dimension is that there is presence. When you’re really happy there is a quality of “you are here” for what’s really going on. The second dimension is aliveness. And they’re entirely intertwined. When you’re happy there’s a sense of life flowing through you. If you bring your attention in an embodied way to the life that’s here, you’ll find the sense of presence or the space of presence that’s aware. If you’re really occupying presence, you feel the flow of aliveness.”—Tara Brach “Flow & Presence“
